Announced live at E3 Square Enix started off their E3 conference with the good stuff:Final Fantasy VII Remake. So the “multi-part” concept came to light finally. The publisher notes that the game is now “two blu-ray discs worth of gameplay content.” The first is, as expected, Midgar, and has become a “standalone game in its own right.” That’s definitely what we’re getting in March of 2020: an expanded Midgar portion....

Go chat After a series of delays, “Coming soons,” and “Square Enix Time” exclamations, the fabledFinal Fantasy XIVCompanion app is here. Coupled with a cute Allagan-Tomestone-as-an-iPhone marketing push it’s actually pretty functional, and serves as a chat application to contact your friends and plan meetups or activities. You can also run limited services from it like browsing the auction house (market board) or manage your inventory, some of which is gated behind a premium (that comes later, though you can buy Mog Coin microtransactions now, of course)....

Followingthe massive improvements released as part of Update 6,Forza Motorsport‘s Update 7 isn’t quite as monumental as that, but it’s a big deal nonetheless. The highlights are the Brands Hatch track and a huge reduction of the game’s installation footprint, cutting it down by a whopping 25 GB. Forza Motorsportreleased in a questionable statein October 2023, and it wasn’t until early 2024 that the developer Turn 10 came up witha planto resolve the game’s many, many problems....

Iron out some stuff Oh my God,Godfallis probably coming to PS4. That wasn’t a dramatic declarative statement, mind! Because this very niche, very odd action game isn’t worth freaking out over. Although I enjoyed it for what it was, it ended up being a strange oddity of a PS5 launch game, seemingly released just to hit the target of a new console launch. Since November 2020 it’s kind of sat there in Sony land (as well as PC), and it looks like it’s still going to be staying under Sony’s purview....

Well now, this looks wild. That was my initial impression ofUppers, the latest game from XSEED parent Marvelous. With its over-the-top street fighting, the new brawler has a bit of aYakuzafeel to it. So far just indies detailed as playable Sony is hosting its own convention again this year.PlayStation Experience, moved from its inaugural Las Vegas home to the much more extravagant San Francisco (hooray, I don’t have to go anywhere!), it takes place December 5 and 6. It’s also being bundled with the Capcom CupStreet Fightertourney, likely in part to Sony and Capcom’s console-exclusivity withStreet Fighter V. Apparently Early Bird tickets and Capcom Cup VIP tickets have already sold out, so you may just have to loiter outside the building....
