You’re lost without this Rock Band 4 DLC

You’ll hear the rumble With how popular Ghost became to the Metal scene in such a short span, its hard to imagine they weren’t already featured inRock Band 4. I mean, we’ve got heavier acts like Opeth and Nevermore, but not Ghost? That blasphemy is about to be rectified this Thursday with the release of Ghost’s classic “Cirice” into the game. Along with that comes Disturbed’s “Down with the Sickness” to theRock Band 4store....

3D Dot Game Heroes goes gold, sprite statues rejoice

See how happy they are? Spelunker looks like he’s about to burst into song. Probably. Anyway, From Software held a little event in Yokohama over the weekend to commemorate3D Dot Game Heroesheading into production, and brought along these rad statues. Producer Takueti Masaru and Project Manager Misawa Hiroyuki of Silicon Studios were on hand, declaring October 10th “Day of the Dot.” Why that date holds any particular significance is beyond me, but if you’ve got some insight, feel free to enlighten us all in the comments....

A dataminer spotted that Battlefield 6’s open beta is on the way—I just hope it’s as good as Battlefield 1’s

Battlefield 6, EA’s next game in the long-standing series, might get an open beta soon, according to a dataminer. The long-awaited game could put wind in the franchise’s sails, which have been all but ripped to shreds following the horrible launch ofBF2042. But I just hope it equalsBF1. As reported by Insider Gaming, the very phrase “Battlefield 6open beta” appeared in the files of the Battlefield Labs, showing quite clearly that EA is at least planning to launch something of the sort....

Out in the fourth quarter of this year The mask fromThe Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Maskis actually iconic. Not “Aiden Pearce’s hat” iconic (I will never let that go), but actual iconic. Even now, those Nintendo 64 visuals combined with that damn mask still haunt souls all across the world. Now you can put it in your house and freak everyone out. From First 4 Figures, this new mask statue is available for pre-order for a fourth quarter 2020 release for $99....

Ace Combat Assault Horizon gameplay shows OMG CHOPPERZ

Are you hankering to get yourself into a fighter jet and shoot down some bandits? I sure am, but if you are too, we’re both going to have to wait a little bit, becauseAce Combat Assault Horizonfeaturesattack choppersequences alongside its fighter jet sections. That’s not a bad thing, mind you. We haven’t had anything resembling a dedicated chopper game in a long time, and attaching it to a dedicated fighter jet game is good enough for me, especially when it’s got theAce Combatname to go with it....

Alphabeats puts some wub wub in a word game

Made by Teddy Diefenbach of Hyper Light Drifter fame You know Teddy Diefenbach, right? He is one of the people working on the Kickstarter uber-successHyper Light Drifter, and he just cannot seem to stop making new games. At E3 we got to play a bit of his newer titleKyoto Wild, and in one week his studio Rad Dragon will releaseAlphabeats, which is billed as “ScrabblemeetsDance Dance Revolution.” Watching the gameplay above, it looks like the rhythm aspect is not a huge part of the gameplay, as players maneuver a group of letters at the bottom to catch more letters and build valid words....

Angry Birds USB controller designed for student project

Check out this physical controller designed by students at Copenhagen Institute of Interactive Design for use withAngry Birds. As you can see, it tilts, pulls, fires and totally belongs in my house. Setting aside for the moment that it’s a bit silly to design a peripheral for a game where the primary selling point is being able to play it anywhere at any time, I might actually be motivated to soldier through an entire round of levels inAngry Birdsif I had this thing to play with....

Caligula Effect: Overdose, a re-release with ‘twice the story content’ of the original, coming west to PC, PS4, Switch

In 2019 The Caligula Effect, which wins the award as one of the most playful titles of 2017, was released on Vita and somewhat unceremoniously on PSTV (remember that?) roughly a year ago in the west after marinating in Japan for a year preceding the localization. It garnered a rather tepid response but there were fans, as evidenced by today’s announcement of a western release forCaligula Effect: Overdose— which will be arriving on PC, PS4, and Switch in 2019....

CCP shutting down PS3-exclusive Dust 514, segueing into PC shooter

Project Legion comes to life, sort of At EVE Fanfest 2014, CCP announced a prototype calledProject Legion, a new PC shooter in theEVE Onlineuniverse. We were immediately left to wonder what this meant forDust 514which already fills that shooter role but as a PS3 exclusive. CCP representatives were predictably dodgy in interviews, stressing thatProject Legionwasn’t even definitelya thingat this point. At the time, it seemed likeDust 514‘s death knell. However, as two entire years passed, hindsight suggests that maybe even CCP wasn’t sure what its plans were as it stayed mum on all thingsProject Legion(we were informed at Fanfest last year that nobody was going to talk about it)....

Cliffy B’s LawBreakers has potential, but I wonder about its mass appeal

Hands-on with Boss Key’s first game Our press bus sidles up to an unassuming office building in the heart of historic downtown Raleigh. Far from the bright lights and costly office spaces of LA or San Francisco, Boss Key Productions, Cliffy B’s new studio, is housed in a structure built in 1902. “2nd Floor, Boss Key”is written on a signoutside in chalk. Going in, my expectations forLawBreakerswere fairly low. I mean look, a game from Cliff Bleszinski, designer of shooters likeUnreal TournamentandGears of War, and Arjan Brussee, the co-founder of Guerilla Games, isboundto be decent at worst....

Conan might suck at Mario Kart, but he’s great as a dick canvas

Frat house rules Conan’s Clueless Gamer segment is back for more befuddlement and frustration. This time, the comedian played the frat house favoriteMario Kart 8withNeighbors 2co-stars Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. Of course, you can’t have a frat house without a bit of hazing, so the three agreed to some unusual stakes for a game ofMario Kart— each race, the loser gets a dick on his face. Poor Conan. At least Seth and Zac got to express their creativity....

Cyberpunk 2077is getting its anticipated Update 2.3 tomorrow. While it adds some cool stuff (and opens the game up to Mac users), it’s certainly not one of its biggest. What’s more, this update will probably be the game’s last, and what a ride it has been to get here. On July 17,Cyberpunk 2077is set to receive its likely final patch. Bringing over a lot of new cool features, such as Delamain auto-driving your vehicle while you take cool screenshots....
