Shadow Warrior 2 confirmed for next year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Lo Wang returns 2013’sShadow Warriorreboot was pretty great. Developer Flying Wild Hog and publisher Devolver Digital seem to think so too, as they have just announced a full follow-up, ingeniously titledShadow Warrior 2. Like most third-party titles these days, it’ll shuck the Wii U platform and be released on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2016. This time, four player co-op (“online” is specifically mentioned) is included, as well as a procedurally generated mode....

So that’s what the bald Valve guy looks like

Open your mind Live with a weird intro long enough and it becomes normalized. A dude with a valve in the back of his head? Don’t worry about it. The guy before him with a plugged-up eye? He’s fine. Play someHalf-Life. Valve’s logo splash screen hasevolved over the years, but at this point, the iconic “bald guy” image has settled into place. Several months ago, he made the unnerving jump to VR withHalf-Life: Alyx....

Splatoon 2 update fixes its bubble-blowing problems

Special weapon loses defensive edge Nintendo has dropped a small update for its Switch arena-shooterSplatoon 2. Version 3.2.1, which is already live in game, was mostly implemented to stop an issue involving the Bubble Blower special. In the past, unleashing bubble-hell upon the opposition provided an extra level of defence, as shots from Rainmaker and Bomb Launcher devices would collide with the bubbles, instantly nerfing their damage in part or, in some cases, entirely....

Sportsfriends narrowly gets funded on Kickstarter

Score one for local multiplayer As of just a few days ago, it seemed very possible thatSportsfriends— the multiplayer-focused, four-game compendium that includesJohann Sebastian Joust,BaraBariBall,Super Pole Riders, andHokra— wouldn’t be able to meet its $150,000 goal on Kickstarter. Thankfully, the campaignpulled through and was funded today. I had expected this to garner more support than it did based on how passionate some people have been about these games (J.S. Joust, in particular) and the pretty solid list of supported platforms (PlayStation 3, Windows, Mac, and Linux)....

Square Enix’s Forspoken still looks gorgeous, but I’m worried about the narrative

Metroid: Other Mstory vibes? RememberForspoken? I don’t blame you if it passed you by, as this year has been pretty insane as a whole. It’s that new fantasy action game from Square Enix. You know, that new one! Okay, I’ll be more specific, as a result of a recentForspokenpreview event. Forspokenfollows Frey Holland (Ella Balinska) as she warps from New York Cityto the magical land of Athia— oh, and it looks fantastic and has fast-running physics....

Team Fortress 2 achievements based unlocks are back

Last weekendwe filled you in on a bit of a change to theTeam Fortress 2unlock system. In the recent Spy/Sniper update it had changed to a more random drop system as opposed to the achievement based unlock system that was in place before hand. It sparked a little debate as to which was better, and the merits of both systems. Can’t really say who won the argument, and Valve seems to agree so they’ve come out withan updatethat offers the best of both worlds....

Tributes pour in as former Buffy and Gossip Girl star passes away at 39

It’s always sad when a face from our childhood passes away, and as someone who grew up watchingBuffy the Vampire Slayerevery day with my dad after school, I’m utterly heartbroken by the sudden death of Michelle Trachtenberg, who starred as Buffy’s sister. Well, eventually. Dawn Summers was originally introduced in an in-story retcon moment that saw characters blindly accepting that Buffy had always had a sister, even though she’d never existed before....

Ubisoft’s robot beanstalk game Grow Home heading to PS4

A.I. grown home Grow Homereleased on PC earlier this year, and it sort of took us by surprise. This is an Ubisoft game? Sure. Currently unavailable on consoles, the quirky experience will make its way to PlayStation 4 soon. Very soon, actually; it’s slated to release on September 1....

Ugh, next-gen racing games look so damn good

Dirt 5’s a looker During almost any other time, I would not be interested inDirt 5. I say this confidently because I was not interested inDirt Rally 2.0orDirt 4. There have been seven previousDirtgames (!!) and I did not have a lick of interest in any of them. Dirt 5is different though because it looks so goddamn pretty on PS5 and Xbox Series X. That’s the way it goes with new hardware....
