Thank goodness launch is imminent We’ve been optimistic aboutBlasphemousfor what feels like years now, and with the end in sight, developer The Game Kitchen has seen fit to releasea half-hour-ish PC demofor its bleak, religious action-platformer title. The first thing I wanted to do after clearing the demo was run through it again. That’s not something I can say every day. I’m dying to peel back more layers. There are a few caveats– the demo will only stick around Steam until September 1, and your progress won’t transfer over to the full game (which is out real soon, on September 10)– but don’t let that put you off....

According to theCyprus Mail, the Cyprus House Education Committee has already decided to repress games. The only issue left for the governing body is deciding how to regulate the sales and distribution of violent videogames. The basis of their decision has been rested on the hands of their Democratic Rally (DISY) party. Deputy of DISY Tasos Mitsopoulos said when interviewed, “…bad and excessive use of [violent] games can have a negative effect on children and teenagers’ brains,” and then went on to toss out something even sillier:...

Dead Island: Riptidehas some new screenshots to show off, and you guessed it — they have zombies in them. The screens showcase a few areas similar in theme to what we’ve seen before inthe original game, including one brief picture of thenew fifth survivor, John Morgan. Hopefully, Techland had an opportunity to fix the multitude of glitches found in the first one, and give the franchise a bit more flavor. Playing the game cooperatively throughout the entire affair made it more bearable, but as a solo experience, I foundDead Islandto be extremely lacking and woefully unpolished....

Fun fact:Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skiesis my first foray into the series. This is made even weirder by my general dislike of turn-based role-playing games. Something about it — most likely the jolly presentation — grabbed my attention. I’m not sure about the rest of you, but I sure as heck don’t know anyone nearby who ownsDragon Quest IX. Considering how much effort was put into making its multiplayer compelling, this is an issue....
