Swallow things up as a hole in the ground in Donut County

I’m really digging this one Donut Countyhas been in the works for a while.Jordan previewed ita couple of years ago, and at the time it looked relaxing and engaging, just the kind of thing I like to sink hours into. Now, it still looks relaxing and engaging but with a little more chaos thrown in, much likeKatamari Damacy, and the raccoon isn’t just riding a scooter anymore. It’s also talking. And riding a drone....

That Mario Minecraft Mash-Up? It wasn’t Nintendo’s idea

‘They came to us’ Nintendo is constantly creating new concepts within their own wheelhouse, but they’re generally not known for stepping outside their comfort zone and interacting with other studios (even projects likeSmash Bros.are generally limited to interactions with other Japanese publishers). It makes sense then that Mojang and 4J (the developer that handlesMinecraftports) approached Nintendo for the newMinecraft Mario Mash-Uppack.Speaking to The Verge, Nintendo’s senior manager of licensing Damon Baker stated: “They actually came to us with what their vision was, and the extent of it, and blew us away....

That’s…that’s not how Minesweeper works

Lyin’sweeper Minesweeping is a dangerous hobby. One ill-advised move, and KABOOM! That smiley face at the top is frowning and has Xs for eyes. But, that can all be avoided if you play it smart. That is, unless you’re playing a madman’sMinesweeper. It’s full of falsities, surprises, and (presumably) suddenly detached limbs. Careful clearing around that five! Oh, there’s nothing there. Okay, weird. Well, at least we know this one is sa–BOOM!...

The Bridge is free on Epic, and it’s gonna turn your world upside-down

An oldie but a goodie Another week, another Epic freebie. This time, it’s a topsy-turvy puzzler, a science-themed game that evokes the name of M.C. Escher because of all its perspective shifting. The Bridgeis free on the Epic Games Storeuntil January 30. Patrick reviewed itseven years agowhen it first released. That might as well be three lifetimes ago as far as these things go.He gave it a 9, an impressive score for an impressive game....

The Memory Card .68: Anton’s love story

“The Memory Card” is a seasonal feature that dissects and honors some of the most artistic, innovative, and memorable videogame moments of all time. Love is portrayed in many different ways in videogames. In epic Japanese RPGs, love stories are told in dramatic cutscenes, accompanied by a rousing music score and an air of slight confusion as to what is really going on. In other games, love is simply just a matter of saving the princess from a far away castle....

The new PlayStation VR2 site is a nice recap and it’s got a “tell me when I can pre-order” sign-up

The Red Hood DLC pack for Arkham Knight is disgustingly short

Man do I love this character though Just yesterday, we gave you the rundown on theHarley Quinn DLC packforBatman: Arkham Knight. Much like many aspects of the core game, it was a letdown, mostly due to its length and the fact that it doesn’t really provide anything substantial — it feels more like a tech demo that should have aired on YouTube. While the Red Hood GameStop exclusive DLC pack is definitely more satisfying on some level, it’s not worth hunting down on eBay (where it’s going for $30 minimum) or picking up on its own when its exclusive period ends in the fall....

The Witcher 3 impressed the hell out of me

First-time players will want to put this on their radar Those of you who haven’t really gotten intoThe Witcherseries might not be too invested inThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntyet despite how great it looks. That’s something you’ll want to change leading up to release across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next year.
