Natasha Allegri pays tribute to Smash Bros.’ new high heels

This should be a real mode When Nintendo unveiled Samus’ new footwear inyesterday’sSmash Bros.presentation, the internet went wild. “How dare they!?!” they cried, tears of shoe-serious stress and tension streaming down their faces. “Just because she’s a girl doesn’t mean she should wear high heels!!!” screamed at the top of their lungs, voices hoarse with rage about videogame shoes. Natasha Allegri, the co-creator ofBee and Puppycat,Fiona and Cake,Musclecat Showdown, and many other greats seems to agree....

New HypeZone stream shows only the final moments of Fortnite Battle Royale

On the cusp of greatness If you liked Mixer’sHypeZone conceptbutPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundsisn’t exactly your multiplayer game of choice, the streaming platform has now applied the same idea toFortnite Battle Royale. It’s a single streamthat roams from match to matchto capture the “most intense moments.” So if you like seeing people sweat it out in the endgame without the preceding buildup, you’re golden. I think HypeZone is a fun novelty and the kind of experimentation I’d like to see more of in streaming, but it lacks lasting appeal — at least for me....

New Metroid Prime 3 shots surface

Olympic-standard tipster, BlindsideDork, has unsurprisingly struck again, this time putting us onto 5 new screenshots and a title logo from theonly-dated-yesterdayMetroid Prime 3: Corruption. Sourced fromNGCFrance, they depict Samus battling through the traditional array of desolate industrial landscapes, some unidentified members of the additional cast, and at one point what appears to be Samus flitting through the sky using the grappling beam while wearing a black suit. What this new armour variation might be is anyone’s guess at the moment, but obviously given the combination ofits colour and the swinging action in the shot, Retro Studios are currently being searched for any and all My Chemical Romance albums which may be on the premises....

Nintendo announces ‘Summer of Play’ tour with demos of upcoming games

Well, mostly upcoming games In previous years, Nintendo has held a “Play Nintendo” event to showcase upcoming games in a public setting. In addition to being like an E3 that most people can actually visit, the kiosks are full of Nintendo charm and glee while also offering demos for upcoming games. I’m not sure if that is really needed (the internet is great for downloading things!), but maybe some people aren’t sold on a console; an event like this will give them the chance to experience that device to its fullest potential....

OUYA Kickstarter surpasses $5 million

Despite the cynicism growing around OUYA, theAndroid console’s Kickstartercontinues to raise money from supportive and hopeful gamers. The system recently passed the $5 million mark, placing it well ahead of its comparatively humble $950,000 goal. At the time of writing, the full total stands at$5,046,170, with 21 days still left to go on the countdown. With so much money and excited hype, the pressure’s really on to deliver. I certainly hope it does so, even if the system becomes just a cool little Android hub and doesn’t really “upend” anything....

Pokemon’s single-player battles are aging poorly

Charizard used Earthquake! Charizard used Earthquake! Charizard used… I’ve grown increasingly exhausted ofPokémonwith each generation, despite feeling the games are improving overall. FromGoldthroughPearl, I had unyielding optimism to “catch ‘em all” and excessively grind my team up for however many or few trainers awaited me in the postgame. Yet, even though I considerSunandMoonamong the bestPokémongames to date, I’ve been too hesitant to actually complete my own playthrough. I had a hard time pinpointing why I felt this way other than age untilPokémon Let’s Goaddressed a part of the problem....

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is out June 11 and there are a couple of ‘early unlocks’

Carbonox armor and the Pixelizer Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apartlooked greatbefore the PlayStation 5 came out, but now that it’s been a few months, Insomniac’s dimension-hopping adventure soundsfantastic. The PS5 sorely needs a game like this right now, and the wait won’t be too terribly drawn-out – it’s releasing on July 25, 2025. I hesitated to include this video as there’s little meat on its bones. If nothing else, it shows the box art and serves as a reminder that unlike other PlayStation exclusives, this one is PS5-only....

Rayman Legends PS4 FAQ: Vita can’t be used for Murfy

The Vita is for Remote Play only Rayman Legendsis a pretty great platformer, and it’s coming to the Xbox One and PS4 this week. To help alleviate some of the questions fans have about the PS4 game specifically, Sony has provided a fan Q&A piece on the PlayStation Blog. Review in Progress: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

No campaign, no problem Going through the campaign for aCall of Dutygame was a complete crapshoot. You never knew if you were going to get a great hamfest or something that took itself far too seriously, and now it’s completely out of the equation. Starting withBlack Ops 4, the focus is almost entirely on multiplayer. There’s three modes: no more, no less, and practically zero single player only components. Let’s go....
