Kingdoms of Amalur rights, proprietary technology for sale
The cautionary tale that is38 Studiosis nearing its conclusion. The companyshuttered its doorslast year, laid off its entire staff, and defaulted on its Rhode Island taxpayer-backed loan en route to bankruptcy. Now theKingdoms of Amalur: Reckoningdeveloper’s remaining assets are scheduled to be sold at auction this November.
The assets available include the IP rights to theAmaluruniverse, including sequel and merchandise rights toKingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning,and the unreleased MMORPGProject Copernicus. Also for sale are the rights to 38 Studios subsidiary Big Huge Games’ full library, includingRise of Nations. The group’s proprietary technology is up for grabs as well.
Heritage Global Partners will open the bidding on November 14, which is scheduled to close the next day.
