I frequently think about game items and how they could have feasible real-world applications. For example, a scale model ofEddiefrom theMega Manseries would make a great novelty cooler, which would sync up perfectly with his in-game role as a mobile item storage unit. And who wouldn’t want to buy a TV set modeled afterSonic The Hedgehogitem monitors?
Artist David Jones had an extremely outside-the-box idea when he looked at the life meter fromMega Man X. Realizing that the individual health units resembled PEZ candy, he made mockups of how he assumed aMega Man X-themed candy dispenser could work. The X model would be filled with lemon-flavored candy and the Zero model with orange candy; removing candy would in turn deplete the “life meter” until health “ran out.”
