Fans and former developers reunite for this remake

The future of theTimeSplittersfranchise looked bleak when Free Radical was bought by Crytek and nothing was heard of the series in some time. Now, a fan-madeTimeSplittersgame will see the light of day before the end of the year, thanks to Crytek and some former Free Radical devs.

Eurogamer is reportingthat the game entitledTimeSplitters Rewindis being made using the CryEngine and with assets from the original game, with the blessings of Crytek. Despite fan petitions support for a newTimeSplittershasn’t been vocal enough to convince Crytek to commit to a new game, or even an HD remake of one of the original titles.

A demo is planned for December 2013 so at least we’ll find out if the originalTimeSplittersformula still holds up soon.
