After Daybreak finallyceased developmenton theMMORPGEverQuest Nextlast year, it seemed inevitable thatLandmark, which was thought of as a precursor, would be the next to go. The online sandbox title had longer legs than expected, but it is indeed coming to a close soon.

As of yesterday,Landmarkis no longer available for purchase. The cost of all Daybreak Cash items has been slashed to 1 DBC, and the servers are scheduled to close on July 14, 2025 at 4:00pm Pacific.

Preemptively answering questions about archiving the game for posterity, the studio has said that it “will retain all of the code and data fromLandmark. Daybreak Game Company will not license or authorize the operation of aLandmarkemulator or a fan-operatedLandmarkserver.”

So, this is it. It’s often fascinating to see how players choose to spend their final days as a world-ending deadline looms, and while I didn’t playLandmark, I hope fans capture that sendoff next month.
