You may rememberFinal Fantasy XVas the game that was originally known asFinal FantasyVersusXIIIbefore being renamed and relegated to next gen witha trailerthat was enticing enough to melt my cold cynicism about its prospects, what with the bloated development time and slapdash name change.
Speaking to IGN,Kingdom Heartsproducer Shinji Hashimoto stated the obvious, “Both [Kingdom Hearts IIIandFinal Fantasy XV] have Tetsuya Nomura as their director, so we can’t create these two big games at the same time.” I assume this meansKingdom Hearts IIIdevelopment hasn’t even started yet, hence the paltry E3 showing.Final Fantasy XVdoesn’t even have a release year, so maybeKingdom Hearts IIIis the nextFinal FantasyVersusXIIIand ends up on the PS5 and Xbox Two.
“A lot of people have wondered for the last couple of years if Square Enix has actually been working onKingdom Hearts III; that’s why we announced it at E3 this year,” Hashimoto said. “But please, we need you all to understand that there’s a lot to do.” I understand. I don’t understand whyKingdom Hearts IIIwas announced this early.
