Squad Battles might not be as competitive as Division Rivals and Champions, but they can be a great source of rewards inEA FC 25.

With the recent buffs to the rewards, the aim is to score as many points as possible and possibly get a rank in Elite 3 or above. However, your targeted number of points can take a massive hit if the game crashes when you’re inside a match. This problem has been exclusive to Squad Battles matches and plagues players on current and old-gen platforms.

While EA Sports has yet to solve the problem permanently, I have found a few tricks to prevent it from happening.

The exact cause of the crashes inSquad Battlesremains unknown six months into the release. Initially, I always encountered it in the current-gen version, but I have found the problem happening on old-gen consoles as well. The crash happens whenever I start a new evolution and put the card in the active squad.

Do note that this happens when you’ve started anew evolution, and the selected card is about to play the first game (after being drafted into the evolution). Keeping this in mind, here’s what I usually do after starting an evolution.

The best solution is to put the evolution card in your active squad (it can be on the bench) and start a game of either Champions or Division Rivals. It’s not necessary to sub the card in, but just to be safe, you can do that. Not only will this usually contribute towards advancing your evolution, but you should also be able to use the card safely in Squad Battles.

If you don’t want to play Division Rivals or Champions, it’s best to clone your active squad first. Then, use the cloned squad to start your Squad Battles. This cloned squad will have the evolution item, but it shouldn’t cause the crashes. This perhaps has to do with the fact that you have changed the squad (from the previously active one to the cloned one), which had the evolution item in it from the beginning.

I have played over 60 games over the last couple of weeks (yes, it’s way more than how much you’re required to play for the points), and I have encountered zero crashes. While this method is not certified to work at all times (as any permanent solution has to arrive from EA Sports), it will hopefully reduce the amount of random Squad Battles crashes.
