As one of the more unique bosses inTears of the Kingdom, Queen Gibdo will terrorize you at the end of the Lightning Temple. Here’s how to take it out, and why you maybe want to prep for this particular boss.
The Queen Gibdo is arguably the hardest of the temple bosses, and is found in the Lightning Temple
Although you’re able to take on the Lightning Temple earlier, save it for later:we recommend completing the Lightning Temple last.
Having the three other Champion abilities from each temple (and more hearts to work with) will significantly cut down the difficulty of this boss encounter.
Mastering the lightning Champion ability before you go into this fight is a good idea
The Queen Gibdo will fly around and use a few primary attacks:
Like many bosses inTears of the Kingdom, staying at a medium-range is a great strategy for the Queen Gibdo, so you can react quickly to each different ability it uses. Your key focus here is to trigger the lightning strike Champion ability, wait for it to gain some range, then fire it off at the Queen Gibdo while it’s in the air. Hitting any point on its body will work given the vast reach of said lightning strike. Once it hits the ground, run up and bring out your best melee weapon: then strike it as much as possible.
You can prepare to sprint up to it as soon as you loose your arrow to get even more hits in.
In phase two, things get significantly harder: which is a far cry from the rest of the temple big bads. Gibo nests will raise out of the ground in all four corners of the room, infesting the arena with enemies. Just like the nests leading up to the temple,they can be taken out with a Champion lightning strike. We recommend taking all of them out to cut down on the chaos of the battle, then refocus on the Queen Gibdo.
While enemies can be taken out with elemental attacks (including the fire from the Goron rollout ability and lightning from the Gerudo power),don’t lose focus of the Queen Gibdo boss. The Queen Gibdo will be using their projectile sand laser more often, and it deals a significant amount of damage in this phase. When the Queen Gibdo rears up for a laser attack, using the water shield is one of the easiest ways to not lose tempo while taking down the nests.
Taking out nests with lights shining down from the sky can help alleviate some issues, and give you a safe respite for continuous boss damage (and a spot to take out the other nests). Just keep track of the sand laser and you’ll be able to get back on track: keep pelting the Queen Gibdo with lightning strikes to take it out.
Beating the Queen Gibdo will net you a Heart Container
Like most core bosses in theZeldaseries,you’ll earn a Heart Containerfor finishing off Queen Gibdo. Collect it after the fight, then interact with the podiumto unlock the Gerudo Champion ability.
