If you use theFinal Fantasy XIVLauncher to start up your game, you’re used to seeing the chosen artwork in the background. But one thing added as part of the 7.1 update is the ability to customize your launcher to suit your tastes.

Are you a fan of G’raha? I mean, really, who isn’t? Maybe you’ve got a soft spot for Erenville, and who could blame you? Well, now you can pick them to greet you whenever you open up the official Launcher to log in toFinal Fantasy XIV. They’re not the only options, of course, but it’s nice that theyareoptions among the current group of six.

How to change your background in the Final Fantasy XIV Launcher

To change your background in theFFXIVLauncher, open it up and input your log-in details, but don’t press “Play”. Instead, locate the cog button in the top right-hand side of the window, click it, and you’ll be taken to the Config menu.

After the7.1 updateis live, there will be a new section underneath “Theme” where the possible backgrounds will show up. There are currently a total of six different designs that you can set to greet you:

Options for the Launcher background in FFXIV, including those added in patch 7.2

The 7.2 update added five additional Launcher backgrounds to choose from, including the remainder to the Scions who were conspicuously missing from the first round of backgrounds:

To choose your background, click on the image you like and it will become surrounded by a green border with a green tick in the top right corner. Then, if you want to see your changes implemented right away, you’ll need to exit the Launcher and re-open it. Either way, you’re free to log in and get to playing.

You can also choose for the background to be different each time you log in, adding a nice element of surprise to your login experience. To do this, verify that every image (or the ones that you like) is surrounded by the green border and ticked off. Then, each time you log in, you’ll be greeted by someone different.

It’s hard to tell if other backgrounds will be coming in future updates, but as we have the main characters now all present and accounted for, it seems unlikely that further characters could be added. Although having said that, we are missing Koana, so there is hope that he might be added as an option soon.
