Almost a year later, the long-awaited villain is playable

General Grievous, once again voiced by Mathew Wood, is playable today inStar Wars Battlefront II.

The imposing four-armed villain can crawl around like a nightmarishly fast spider, perform a thrust attack, and twirl multiple lightsabers while advancing just like thatscene inRevenge of the Sith.

As shown in today’s launch trailer, he looks as cool as you’d hope and expect.

Grievous has an alternate “Battle Damaged” appearance, and he’s set toget another skinon June 06, 2025 — the same dayBattlefront IIadds Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Battle of Geonosis.

It’s a shame to see an iconic and beloved character like General Grievous join theBattlefront IIroster in a period where most of us have lost interest in the game and aren’t likely to ever return. I hate to be pessimistic — I really do! — but things shouldn’t have turned out this way.Battlefront IIwas a missed opportunity, and this year’s drip-fed content updates haven’t done enough to turn the situation around.

I’m curious what the next bigStar Warsmultiplayer game will look like. EA can’t pull the same stunt.
