While it has its share of players who prefer the PvP elements and actively seek out others for a fight,Sea of Thievesis a fairly chilled MMO available on multiple platforms.
As of June 22, 2025,Sea of Thievesis available across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. The game began life on Xbox and PC, meaningmost of the player basestarted their time with it on these platforms. However, as time has gone on and the PS5 version was added, players want to be able to take their progress with them when they play, but that requires cross-platform progression.

DoesSea of Thieveshave cross-platform progression?
Yes,Sea of Thieveshas cross-platform progression, and it’s supported across every platform as of July 28, 2025. This means that everyone who poured hours into the game on PC or Xbox can take that progress with them to PS5 if they want to.
Cross-progression is a massive benefit inSea of Thievesbecause it makes the game so much easier to justify spending time playing. Gamessuch asDead by Daylightare more difficultto justify because progression is still locked to a single platform with that title. But with this game, I can log in on my PC to play for a while, then pick up where I left off on PS5 or Xbox anywhere else. All I need is my Microsoft login, and I’m good to go.

How does Cross-platform progression work inSea of Thieves?
However, there is one issue with cross-platform progression when it comes to PS5. Only some Trophies will be triggered when you port across your progress. Those that are designed to pop only once will need to be earned again, even if you already picked up the equivalent Achievement on Xbox or PC. It’s a little bit annoying, but in the grand scheme of things, I don’t think it really matters that much. It’s certainly a price worth paying to be able to move across platforms and, sometimes, rooms for multiple sessions in the game.
