I quite liked the sound ofLayers of Fear, a first-person horror game from Bloober Team about apainter who has gone mad. It’s playable now in an unfinished state onSteam Early AccessandXbox One, if you’re so inclined.
The reception from players has been fairly positive — “Scarier thanOutlast,” reads one particularly efficient user review on Steam —but if you’d rather hold out for the final version, that’s coming to Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 28, 2025. I’m right there with you.
There’s anew trailerfor the game to coincide with today’s news (which, by the way, begins with the unsettling phrase “Prepare to bathe in terror…”), but it is mostly comprised of quotes. I think you’ll be better served by this thematically appropriate video:
