Unsurprisingly,Mario&Luigi: Brothershipwill be a Nintendo Switch exclusive when it launches in November. It’s possible that we may see a port to the now-confirmed Switch successor, however, we don’t have a possible release date for it bar confirmation it will be announced before March 2025.

What do we know aboutMario & Luigi: Brothershipso far?

Truthfully, we don’t know a lot about the game just yet, as all we’ve received from Nintendo is the announcement trailer. The description of the video reads: “The bond between brothers has never been stronger! Set sail for an island-hopping adventure with the Mario Bros. inMario & Luigi: Brothership,” but doesn’t drop any details about the storyline.

The game definitely holds on to the side-scrolling platform design that we’ve seen over the years inSuper Mariogames but has been updated graphically for the current generation of consoles. Other than that, however, we don’t know too much about gameplay features, other than the promise of “evolved moves for the brothers.

Interestingly, Nintendo is being coy about what studio actually developed the game. We know that AlphaDream, the original studio behind the series, was shuttered in 2019, but all Nintendo would tellVGCis that “some of the original developers” were involved.

Hype is definitely high though, withAlbania’s Jasir Asani rocking a pair of Mario-themed boots at Euro 2024.
