A tournament for the ages

InMultibowl, two players compete against each other across snippets of emulated games likeWild Guns,Vs. Excitebike,Super Mario Kart, and others selected randomly from a list of hundreds. One moment you’re serving in tennis, the next, you’re mugging robots.Multibowlis a damn good idea.

From the look of this video, it has thatWarioWare, Inc.vibe of not knowing what game is coming up next and needing to hurriedly figure out not only your goal, but also the controls needed to achieve it.

The project is a collaboration between Bennett Foddy (QWOP) and Alec Thomson (Beglitched), and to get your hands on it, well, you’re going to need to be in the right place at the right time. It’ll be present atJuegos Rancherosin Austin, TX on September 1 as well as atXOXO Festivalin Portland, OR on September 9. There’s also aMultibowltournament planned for Austin’sFantastic Arcadenext month.

This seems like one of those game destined to stay at indie gatherings (especially since it’s drawing from emulated games), but I hope it can break out eventually and become more widely available.
