If you read comics, you’re probably aware that the long running, often hypedScott Pilgrimseries is set to wrap up today. If you’re annoyed by the incessant ranting of series fans and want to buy somethingbesidesScott Pilgrim V6today just out of spite, orif you’re just looking for something new to pick up alongside the big series finale, there are a two comics from Capcom/Udon being released today that may strike your fancy.
I’ve been followingStreet Fighter Legends: IbukiandDarkstalkers: Volume Twosince they started. ThisIbukistory is easily my favorite thing from aStreet Fighter Legendsspin-off series to date. Compared to the fun-but-lightSakuraseries, and the solid-but-unsurprisingChun Lirun,Ibuki‘s story feels the most inspired and natural. The way Ibuki, Makoto, Elena, and Oro are written just makes sense, like they were meant to be a part of the same story all along. If you didn’t already know that this was a comic based on a game, I don’t think you’d be able to guess that it was (and I mean that it a good way.)

As forDarkstalkers, I’m not going to lie; the story isn’t that great. Still, this isDarkstalkers. If you love these characters, you’d be a chump not to pick this up. The fact that they keep makingDarkstalkerscomics despite the fact that there hasn’t been a newDarkstalkersgame in over ten years is nothing short of a miracle. You never know when these characters (other than Morrigan) are about to be banished to Capcom obscurity along side the cast ofDino CrisisandOne Piece Mansion, so get ’em where you can, while you still can.
I’m skippingScott Pilgrimtoday (don’t want the comic to ruin the movie/the game for me) and picking these up instead. How about you? Any chance you’ll give these a shot?
