In terms of the gunplay According to a new video forFallout 4, Bethesda sought out some help from its fellow ZeniMax-owned id during the development process. Apparently this iteration is stepping up the gunplay, so id Software was able to help out in that respect. The the developers looked to id for advice from day one, “starting from scratch” with the combat system. WhileFallout 4andNew Vegas‘ combat mechanics were sufficient enough, I’m hopeful of this new shift....

Broken Valentines When Bungie announced the Crimson Days event forDestiny, my heart sunk a bit. I mean the notion is nice, but really, we all know that the Tower makeover is basically just an excuse to sell more microtransactions. “But you can pay for the [insert popular meme here] Drake Dance.” Should I just…uninstall it now, or? Following yesterday’sleak of story detailsfor the upcoming, unnamedBorderlandsadd-on pack, IGN got Gearbox president Randy Pitchford’s reaction. “There are a few things there,” he says. “But I think it’s like reading a draft of a script for a movie that hasn’t even been announced yet, let alone launched — yeah you might learn something, but it’s not the real thing and it could just drive you crazy thinking about it.” I hope Gearbox doesn’t stray too far away from what the leak described....

Viva la scripted solos! Rock Band 4, largely theRock Bandthat you already know and maybe love, has one big change from previous games. That is the Freestyle guitar solo. Its intent is to break away from the traditional and sometimes very tough scripted solos, and get you playing something that makes you feel like you’re actually shredding. It succeeds in that sense. But, those who have spent many a long night playingRock Bandmay find that the Freestyle’s novelty wears off quickly....

Hot off a game-changing patch The newestDota 2Interactive Compendiumhas been revealedfor this year’s upcoming International tournament. Just as in past years, 25% of each Compendium purchase goes towards the prize pool and stretch goals. This year, the highest goal is placed at $15 million, which is a little over $4 million more than last year’s final tally of $10,931,105. New this year are challenges and coins. Challenges are small goals to accomplish in-game, and doing so awards coins....

Well isn’t this a triumph for Jonathan Coulton — the singer/songerwriter will have a song that will appear in Valve’sPortal 2. Shocking, I know, considering his track “Still Alive” — which played duringPortal‘s closing credits — was a huge success. And by “huge success” I mean it was beaten into our brains repeatedly for well over a year after the game released. I mean, I’m not even angry — I’m being so sincere right now: the song was pretty great the first 10,000 I heard it....
