Awesome idea
MMOs usually have official “events” that are designed to get players to log in and play after extended periods of disinterest. They tend to involve holiday festivities of some sort, or in the case of some games, they make up their own annual celebrations. But this entirely player created event inFinal Fantasy XIVis something else.
A group has gotten together on the Tonberry server, cosplayed as the Turks fromFinal Fantasy VII, andput out an open callto find them throughout the game world at a specific time. If you happen to stumble across one of them, all you have to do is used the “/shocked” and “/point” emotes, and they’ll hand you 10,000 gil as a “bribe” for staying quiet.
I’ve seen shopping events in the game and even beach parties and the like, but this scavenger hunt is pretty amazing. MMOs tend to house some of the most creative fans out there, so mad props to the creators of this event.
