Big Poke dollars for the Wii U on the way?
Pokemon X/Yis almost upon us, and Nintendo is brimming with joy over their pending release, with new cartoons and other promotional tidings flowing from every orifice. Case in point, a new retrospective video that takes us through the chronological history of the Pokemon games, including the card game and thatweird Japan-only arcade collectible disc-based thing. Notably missing are thePokemon Rumblegames. All the more evidence that they’re the newblack sheepof thePokemonfamily.
The video culminates onPokemon X/Y, though a few minutes after that climax, we’re teased to a few seconds of mysterious footage of Lucario and Blaziken facing off in a high-polygon count world. They’re facing off in a place that looks more like real life Tokyo than the environments we usually get in the Pokemon games, with skyscrapers, billboards, strange lettering, and giant Pokemon balloons floating in the background.
This could be anything from a CGI Pokemon film to a sequel toHey You Pikachu!, but the safe bet is that we’re getting a newPokemon X/Ycompatible game for the Wii U sometime soon. It would be smart to go with a more fleshed out title likePokemon ColosseumandPokemon XD: Gale of Darknessthan a battle-only release likePokemon Battle Revolution, though Pokemon-anything would certainly be better for the Wii U than nothing at this point.
