“We have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in theGrand Theft Autoseries”
MajorRed Dead Onlinesupport is coming to an end, according toa new blog postdirectly from Rockstar Games.
After spending the majority of the post talking about how much stuff is coming toGTA Online, the team broke the news to fans that major development would no longer be a focus forRed Dead Online— something a lot of folks felt was a long time coming. Here’s the initial salvo:

“Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in theGrand Theft Autoseries — understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be — and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we supportRed Dead Online.”
It’s a carefully-worded statement that you’ve read a billion times: the “end of life,” or “maintenance mode” post that tries not to piss off fans. WhileRed Dead Onlineusers will keep getting monthly and seasonal events (as well as telegram missions), “major themed content updates” are out, and the team says that they’ll continue to share fan creations on social media.

Expect Rockstar to fully embrace theGTAuniverse for the foreseeable future, as it continues to spice up their moneymakerGTA Online, and continues working on the next mainline game — which is for sure going to break tons of records and make investors very happy.
