Oh (virtual) boy!
The Oculus Rift had agood showing last GDCand has captured imaginations in the year since as its development progressed. Its inventor has said thatconsoles are “too weak”for the Rift, dashing any hopes of playingGran Turismo 6with the thing.
But Sony’s been rumored to be working on their own virtual reality headset. According to aTech Radarsource, it’s going to be revealed next month at GDC. “The quality and resolution are really, really good,” the source said. “People will definitely be impressed with what Sony’s built.”

Apparently, “Sony has deliberately taken its time to tweak and polish the headset before revealing it,” as opposed to the Rift, which basically debuted as goggles and duct tape. While the Rift is quite cool, Sony is probably in a better position to come up with a mass market VR option, especially riding on the PS4’s big sales numbers and general fervor.
I mean, people actually bought 3D TVs. I was talking to someone yesterday who was going to pick up a pair of 3D glasses for his TV.
