No online sharing of levels

Super Mario Maker, one of my most-played Wii U titles, is coming to the 3DS later this year on December 2. Shown off at today’s Nintendo Direct, it looked just the same as the Wii U version in action. However, the biggest caveat, and one that had me taken aback, was that youcan’t upload levels online.

Youcanshare levels, but only locally or through StreetPass. That brought my excitement from an all-time high to “meh” levels. There will be 100 Nintendo-made levels included, but as someone wholovesthe Wii U version, I don’t see much added benefit of getting the 3DS version as well. The Direct did mention that you can play many of the levels created on Wii U, but that some will be “incompatible.” The 100 Mario Challenge is also included to play.

Oh! And there’s no Mystery Mushroom with its associated “costumes,” which is a gigantic bummer. Apparently that’s exclusive to the Wii U version.
