Who doesn’t love a good recap?

Metroidis life. Well,Metroidis also death. Fans have to be OK with the series becoming dormant for a while: whether that’s the proper orPrimeseries. Much likeF-Zero(but not quite as bad!) orStar Fox, Nintendo is keen on letting any given part of the franchise rest for a while, butthisMetroidrecapreminds us of just how much history there is to Samus.

It’s all been so incredibly low-key, but Nintendohas been running randomMetroidfactoidssince the very start of its E3 announcement in random places. Whether it’s the officialMetroidblog or Twitter, the powers that be are slowly providing a bigger picture as to what awaits us inMetroid Dread. This time, we get a “seven points that define the 2D saga” framed around aMetroidrecap.

Metroid recap

We get a rundown of Samus, as well as Metroids, the 35-year history of the series, exploration tidbits (mostly how to read and mark up the map), ability info, and background on the Chozo race and the X parasite. The best part is that each section has a little “developer transmission” commentary, like this:

“In theMetroid Dreadgame, Samus’s suit appears to have changed quite a bit from her previous missions. In theMetroid Fusiongame, Samus’ suit was greatly transformed after the emergency removal of pieces eroded by the X parasite and a life-saving injection of the Metroid vaccine—resulting in an organic appearance for her suit. Now, her suit is gradually returning to its original, mechanical Power Suit form.”

Some of it is well-known. Some of you might not recall the events ofFusionand wouldn’t mind a good oldMetroidrecap. In any case, so manyMetroidfans are starving for information that I know they’d jump at the chance to skim through this.
