If you think about the phrase”VALORANTpro,” I guarantee that one of the first names you’ll think of Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo. While he may be the face of Riot’s FPS, the Sentinels star revealed that rivalCS2does one thing “fundamentally better” thanVALORANT: Gameplay mechanics.

In a clip taken from TenZ’s stream, a viewer asked the pro player whether he preferredCS2orVALORANT, with the 23-year-old giving what may be a surprising answer to some considering he droppedCounter-Strikefor Riot’s offering.

“Honestly, I thinkCS2is more fun for me,” he stated. “I like the mechanical aspect inCS, and it felt like every single day you could get better at something mechanically, and that was a really appealing aspect of the game.”

“Plus, there’s so much cool sh*t you can do with the smokes, so you can get kind of creative sometimes. I do think you can unleash more of that creativity in VALORANT with certain comps or characters, but basically everything from a mechanical standpoint inCounter-Strikeis just fundamentally better.”

He concluded: “You get less random kills. In my entire time playingCS, grinding up to become a pro player, I have probably gotten running or jumping headshot less times than a singular game ofVALORANTin my life.”

Of course, the discussion between the two communities is never-ending, especially when you consider that some pro players ditchedCSto go toVALORANT. While there were concerns that one could wipe out the other, it does feel like both have found their niche in the scene, with those who enjoy ultra-specific roles and outrageous abilities preferringVALORANT, while more classic FPS players likeCS2‘s gameplay more.

I certainly preferCounter-Strike, and agree with TenZ’s comments aboutVALORANTfeeling random. In the end, it’s just not my kind of FPS, but with both having their strengths as mentioned by TenZ, it’s good to have choice in the scene.

We wouldn’t take these comments as a hint that he plans on returning to professionalCSthough, as he’s just come off the back of his secondVALORANTVCT Masters trophy back in March.
