Call of Duty: Courtroom Warfare The manufacturers of the famous Humvee, AM General LLC, have filed suit against Activision over the latter’s repeated use of the off-road military vehicle in theCall of Dutyseries. Talks between the two companies have been ongoing for a year, but have apparently broken down as litigation is now on the cards. The complaint, filed this week in a Manhattan court, has AM accuse Activision of “taking advantage of their goodwill and reputation”....

/remake Every MOBA fan knows the pain of having someone go AFK for leaving right at the start of a potentially hour-long match. Even with a surrender option (usually at the 15 minute mark) it can be a pain, and it’s plagued the genre for years. Thankfully Riot has finally come up with a solution forLeague of Legends, which they call the remake mechanic. In short, “if any player is DCed (disconnected) or flagged AFK for at least 90 seconds at the three minute mark and there’s been no first blood,” players can type “/remake” to initiate a vote (which requires two of four players to pass), which end the game and inflicts no bonuses or penalties, like an anullment of sorts....

What a hill to die on Localization is the process of adapting incidental details of a work to better fit the region it is being exported to. Sometimes it is done inelegantly, like whenPokemon‘s Brock holds a handful ofonigiri(rice balls wrapped with dried seaweed) and expresses his love forjelly-filled donuts, but generally it is a useful process for preserving the intent of the original work. Rune Factory 3, which debuted in 2009 on DS (wow!), is getting the remaster treatment for Switch. It’s out on September 5, and will bring the farming/combat hybrid series back into the fray. So what’s new? Well, there’s a “newlywed mode,” which entails standalone quests based on the 11 people you may marry in the game; as well as a “hell difficulty” setting. Given how much there is to do in the game already, that’s not a bad deal....
