Stardew Valleyupdate 1.6 is here, bringing with it a ton of new content but also requiring an update from your favorite mods to be compatible. Unfortunately, there’s no built-in mod loading forStardew Valley, meaning you have to download and update mods the old-fashioned way. Here is how to updateStardew Valleymods easily so you do not disrupt your game in any way.
Easiest way to updateStardew ValleyMods
The absolute easiest way to update mods inStardew Valleyis by using SMAPI, aStardew Valleymod loader.SMAPI can be downloaded here, and is compatible with all PC versions of the game including Steam and GOG. It’s also useable on Linux, macOS, and Windows.
Once you’ve downloaded and extracted the files for SMAPI, run whichever file in the SMAPI installer folder based on the operating system you are using:

The installer should look something like this:
More often than not it will automatically detect the location of yourStardew Valleyinstallation, so choose option 1.
Now if you go into yourStardew Valleyfolder, load up StardewModdingAPI.exe and you will see the list of mods currently installed. It will also show you which mods are outdated and need to be updated, as well as provide you with a clickable link to download the updated version.

For any mods that show as needing to be updated, it’s recommended that you delete the old files completely to prevent any issues. Once you’ve downloaded the new files, extract them into your Stardew Valley\Mods folder. With SMAPI it’s that easy to update your old mods to their new versions!
If you don’t want to use SMAPI, you will have to manually just search for and download the new files for each mod. If you go this route, make sure you completely delete the previous existing mod files, as if you simply overwrite them, you might have some old incompatible files still hanging around that might prevent the mod or even yourStardew Valleyinstallation from working.
