It hits Steam Early Access on May 19

It has been two years since I lastheard aboutSpace Pirates and Zombies 2, but the space-exploration game is nearly ready for Early Access, and I still think its concept of a post-apocalypticgalaxywith hundreds of AI captains out there doing their thing is cool. Well, the promise of it, anyway:

“As resource scarcity becomes critical, ships come into conflict just to survive. Factions may form for protection or split due to starvation. Old friends must become fodder. Stronger factions establish and defend territories, set up resource hubs, and establish star bases. Weaker factions may resort to banditry. Each captain is unique, persistent, and shapes the Galaxy. When factions meet, combat is usually the result. While the strategic side ofSPAZ 2is about exploration, territorial control, and faction building, the action side ofSPAZ 2is about ship construction, tactics, and salvage.”

Sounds cool, right? Overwhelming, but in a good way. Here’s how it looks:

The Steam Early Access launch is set for July 12, 2025, with an estimated six months to a year of work ahead of MinMax Games before the full release happens. The campaign and sandbox modes are in, but the studio asks players not to “purchase for multiplayer until multiplayer is ready.”
