Aka Akasaka,Oshi no Ko‘s co-creator, will be debuting a new manga on March 19. The announcement came from Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine, where the new project will also be serialized.
According toAnime News Network, the series will be titledMärchen Clown, though the official English title is yet to be revealed. Similar toOshi no Ko, Aka Akasaka will be co-working with other creators for the project. Akasaka will be receiving help fromGeek Circle Crisis‘ Aoi Kujira for the story. Meanwhile,Record of Ragnarok‘s Ajichika will be doing the new title’s art.

No official synopsis is available at the moment of writing. However, Weekly Young Jump teases that it’s a fairy tale story featuring a fate-bound pair of a prince and a princess.
Aka Akasaka’s previous manga
Aka Akasaka is renowned for creating intriguing narratives. Even beforeOshi no Ko, he already saw success withKaguya-sama: Love is War, which was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2015 to 2022. During that time, the manga also won a number of awards. It also received an anime adaptation in 2019.
After that, Aka Akasaka worked with Mengo Yokoyari to createOshi no Ko. While the manga series was doing well on its own, its popularity exploded with a wonderful anime adaptation in 2022. The anime won numerous awards, including the Tokyo Anime Award Festival’s Animation of the Year (Television) for 2024. TheOshi no Komanga began its serialization in April 2020 andended in November 2024.

Akasaka also worked on another manga entitledRenai Daiko, however, it was a short-lived one. The title only ran from April 2023 to June 2024 with a grand total of 39 chapters.
